Chellomedia has launched Sport1 Go in the Netherlands. The TV Everywhere service brings live games and on-demand content on a variety of devices including PCs, Macs, laptops, Android devices, iPads and iPhones.
The news of the January launch of Sport1 Go was revealed in Broadband TV News last December.
Sport1 Go also replaces Sport1 Internet TV, the current streaming web TV service from the sports broadcaster. It offers a multiplex of up to six live channels.
Sport1 Go offers subscribers access to live games, reports and documentaries as well as the possibility to catch up on games within a 24 hour window. The service is available on computers and people with the Sport1 iPhone and ipad apps. A version for Android tablets (with Windows 8 and higher) will be introduced in February.
With picture in picture it will be possible to watch two Sport1 channels simultaneously. There is also access to the content of the catch-up TV service Sport1 Gemist and the Sport1 Match Centre offers breaking news and notifications about live events.
Sport1 Go will be free to all current Sport1 subscribers on the various cable, DTH and IPTV platforms. The introductory date will be dependent on negotiations with the platform. DTH service Canal Digitaal Satelliet is believed to be the first platform to offer Sport1 Go to its sports subscribers.
