Christmas viewing of soaps from the UK and Ireland, such as EastEnders, Emmerdale and Fair City, have helped bolster UPC Ireland’s On Demand service.
Since its launch in May last year 12.5 million views have been made by subscribers to the cablenet.
“Christmas and New Years were times when customers found the UPC On Demand TV service invaluable for catching up with the all-important Christmas specials for their favourite soaps and shows. With over 12.5 million views to date, UPC On Demand is firmly established among Irish viewers as they choose to watch what they want, when they want,” said Head of Content, Simon Kelehan.
UPC said 89% of its On Demand capable customers have now used the service since launch.
Of the 12.5 million views to date, 48% are views of the RTE Player and 3Player; 27% are TV box sets and series and 29% are a combination of movies, general entertainment and children’s programmes.
