Kudelski has filed a patent infringement order against Netflix, claiming infringement of seven US patents.
The lawsuit, issued in the United States District Court in Delaware is on behalf of the company’s OpenTV division and covers over-the-top streaming, recommendation, digital rights management and video playblack.
“Companies like Netflix have, in essence, stood on the shoulders of giants, largely focusing their R&D efforts on aggregating these previously patented technologies and using them to provide a rich customer experience,” read the complaint.
OpenTV was acquired by Kudelski in March 2010 after a bitter battle.
