Ziggo gives strategic insights

Digital TV Summit 2012 – LONDON. The Dutch cableco Ziggo regards OTT as a threat but would ironically be a better OTT provider in the Netherlands should it ever decide to become one.

However, in the view of Marcel Nijhoff, the company’s CCO, it cannot imagine OTT providing content in a better way than it currently does.

Nijhoff identified the four key steps that Ziggo has taken in its transformation as the Dome, a major new venue; Navigator, an intuitive UI guiding consumers through the world of content; Communicator, a convergent experience with attractive economics for consumers; and Together, which turns WiFi modems into hotspots.

Nijhoff also said that Ziggo is spending between €120-160 a year per customer on building up its capacity.
