Deutsche Telekom’s VOD service Videoload has launched a new app for Samsung smart TVs instantly streaming movies to the set.
The new video app allows even faster access to movies experience and is available for download on all Samsung Smart TV televisions from 2011 and 2012. The app provides quick access to all rented or purchased movies at Videoload.
“This cooperation between Samsung and Videoload offers a simple and convenient way to view current blockbusters directly on internet-enabled smart TVs from Samsung,” said said Michael Pasch, VP of global music and video, Deutsche Telekom, in a statement.
“We are thus directly represented there where the media consumption takes place. On the home TV screen in the living room”.
“Online video libraries are among the most sought after content on smart TVs,” added Dr. André Schneider, head of product strategy at Samsung Electronics, “Videoload has one of the largest libraries in the German market and is therefore an excellent complement to the TV app portfolio.”
To start, users can request their films from the pre-selected categories “Top 50”, “New”, “special offers”, “Free” and “My Movies”. Trailers, synopses and information about the actors and directors to help in selecting the appropriate film.
Payment is either via Mobile Payment (SMS), or prepaid credit – exclusively for Deutsche Telecom customers – over the phone bill.
The movie library includes titles of all major studios and independent labels such as Disney, Sony Pictures, Universal Studios, Constantin Film, Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros. and 20th Century Fox. These include top movies like “The Amazing Spider-Man” and “Intouchables”, which are also available in the original version as well as the German dubbed version.
