FUTURE TV ADVERTISING FORUM – London. BBC.com now has 40% of web users accessing its content on non-desktop devices as opposed to 25% only last year.
However, the figure for the Irish public broadcaster RTE is, at 67-68%, even higher, according to Tom Bowman, VP global strategy and sales operation, BBC Worldwide.
He added that the BBC is interested in multiscreen because the audience is.
Furthermore, Bowman said that recent research on multiscreen usage in West European markets has found that audiences now increasingly see the internet itself as a device.
It has also been predicted that 200 million more people worldwide will go online, though none on PCs, in the next year.
