The Slovak commercial broadcaster TV Joj has announced plans to launch a third channel.
Interestingly, the news was given by its director Frantisek Borovsky on social networking sites and subsequently quoted by various Slovak and Czech media sources.
According to Borovsky, the third channel will offer original and mostly Slovak programming but will not be dedicated to sports, music or documentaries.
TV Joj is currently the second most popular broadcaster in Slovakia, its two stations TV Joj and Joj Plus claiming a combined audience share of some 27.5%.
CME-backed Markiza TV, the market leader, meanwhile operates three channels – Markiza TV, Domo and Dajto, which together account for 32.4%.
