The Russian cable operator ER Telecom is now the country’s third leading provider of broadband internet services.
Data produced by Telecomdaily and published by AKTR and Vedomosti shows that as of earlier this month the company had 2.27 million subscribers to such services, with MTS claiming 2.18 million.
This was a role reversal of the situation at the end of Q2, when ER Telecom and MTS had 2.130 million and 2.131 million subscribers respectively.
ER Telecom and MTS have adopted a different strategy, with the former building a network from scratch and latter buying up small regional broadband providers.
ER Telecom ended the second quarter with a total of 4.5 million subscribers to its services, which include the recently launched Dom.ru TV ‘Home Entertainment Centre’, offering a wide variety of channel, some in HD, but a range of interactive features.
