The Hungarian FTA DTT platform MinDig TV has seen its user total increase by nearly 50% in the last year to nearly 350,000 households.
At the same time, the take-up of its sister pay DTT platform MinDig TV Extra doubled to 75,000, thereby making the two the fastest growing digital services in the country.
The national transmission company Antenna Hungária, which operates both services, is extending their coverage this autumn and expects that by early next year MinDig TV will be watched in nearly half a million homes and MinDig TV Extra in over 100,000.
Hungary is required to complete the transition to digital broadcasting by the end of 2014 but aims to do so sometime next year.
Antenna Hungária has meanwhile recently taken steps in the development of non-linear services, having trialled a content delivery network (CDN) to show sports events and offer a full HD and 3D live web streaming service.
