PIKE 2012 – Jachranka. The Polish National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) has confirmed that a tender for four frequencies on the country’s first DTT multiplex, due to be vacated by TVP by April 2014, will take place by the end of the year.
However, Agnieszka Ogrodowczyk, the director of the regulator’s strategy department, refused to confirm or deny that one of the frequencies had already been reserved for the station TV Puls.
Furthermore, she insisted that amendments to existing legislation required for the tender to go ahead would be enacted sometime this month.
Speaking on the same panel, several leading broadcasters condemned proposals by the Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) requiring the target DTT coverage to be 95% of all communities, rather than the population as a whole.
ASO will start in Poland in 34 days time and be completed in just under 10 months.
