Jamie Hindhaugh, the BBC’s head of production for London 2012, will join BT in mid-October as COO of its new sports channel.
He will be jointly responsible for launching the new channel, overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring it is run as effectively and efficiently as possible.
BT is becoming an increasingly important player in the UK’s sports TV marketplace, having recently secured rights for three years to 38 live Premiership games, including the opening game, for £246 million (€306 million) and Aviva Rugby Premiership rights for four years for £152 million.
Both deals start in the seasons 2013/4.
