Dutch private broadcaster SBS is launching a second screen app for iPad called SBS6+ to accompany the bulk of its prime time programming.
The second screen is initially only available on Apple iPhone and iPad, but an Android version as well as a web browser edition will be issued in the coming weeks.
The app offers editorial information on most programmes, lets viewers play along with quizzes and games and offers additional background videos to big entertainment shows.
Before the end of the year SBS Broadcasting will also launch second screen for its other two Dutch channels, Veronica and Net5.
Edwin Valent, creative director of SBS, said in a statement: “With this unique service, we want everyone in the Netherlands the opportunity to connect with our programmes and personalise their TV experience. Not just with a small selection of programmes, but every evening, 365 days a year, we will give our viewers a richer viewing experience.”
