The Italian Council of State has thrown out the channel numbering system used by the country’s terrestrial broadcasters.
The suit was taken by the consumer group Adiconsum, which had pointed to administrative irregularities and calling for channel placement to be based on current consumer TV habits.
Communications regulator AGCOM issued a set of interim rules and promised a new draft in 180 days. Before which a consultation period would take place.
Both Sky and Mediaset could benefit from the changes, as could thematic channels MTV and Deejay TV.
