Sharp rise in Canal+ online views

The number of subscribers visiting Canalplus.fr has risen sharply over the last 12 months, according to the Paris-based pay-TV operator.

2.6 million unique visitors came to the site in May 2011, rising to 4.7 million in May 2012. At the same time there has been a 107% increase in video content through the Canal+ Player.

Linear viewing has remained largely unchanged.

Canal+ Group now counts the total number of subscribers across France, its overseas departments and territories and Africa at 5.5 million.

Canal said this represented an increase of 174,000 subscribers over the 12 months to June 30, 2012.
