Envivio increases transcoding by 35%

IBC 2012 PREVIEW – AMSTERDAM. Envivio has introduced a new version of its on demand transcoding software Muse On-Demand. The revision has made significant improvements in the file-to-file transcoding speed of up to 35% in internal testing against platforms that require hardware acceleration.

“Muse was initially purpose–built for telco customers when we looked at what would be needed to serve a Netflix or Hulu-type customer,” explained Matt Smith, vice president, internet TV solutions.

Envivio 4Balancer combined with Muse On-Demand enables simultaneous processing of assets across a pool of up to 50 encoders, improving system utilization. Muse On-Demand and 4Balancer are integrated with leading digital rights management (DRM) platforms, workflow systems, content management systems (CMS) and quality control (QC) platforms.

Envivio’s software-based product architecture and years of video processing expertise allow operators to flexibly manage the full line-up of live and on-demand services in a converged headend architecture, using the Intel-based Envivio 4Caster appliance or HP BladeSystems in an IT-centric datacentre environment.
