iPhone jailbreak fails to release Sky Italia

Sky Italia has begun to limit the use of its Sky Go service for subscribers that have decided to ‘jailbreak’ their Apple or Android devices.

By jailbreaking their phones users are able to bypass some of the regimented settings put in place by the phone’s manufacturers. But following a jailbreak users that attempt to use the multiscreen service Sky Go are presented with a message saying that in order to protect the value of content they will no longer be able to use the service on the majority of channels. The exception is the news broadcaster Sky Tg24.

Sky Italia argues that although the process of jailbreaking is illegal, such actions prevent it from having full control over the content. It says it needs to protect those subscribers that may it a monthly fee.
