Ofcom launches VOD advertising review

Ofcom has written to the Advertising Standards Authority as it reviews the designation of advertising within on demand programme services.

The purpose of the review is to ascertain whether Ofcom’s tests for co-regulation are still being made, though it seems unlikely than an organization such as the ASA might actually fail.

Ofcom is required to conduct a formal review two years after the initial designation, which took place on July 29, 2010.

The regulation of the content itself is handled by the appointed industry body ATVOD.
