HbbTV interest grows

HbbTV Summit Poland – WARSAW. Interest in HbbTV outside Europe is being shown in the US, Japan, Australia, South East Asia and in China, where there have recently been trials, according to Dr Klaus Ilgner-Fehns, chairman of the HbbTV consortium and MD, IRT.

Meanwhile in Germany, 90% of the market supports it and there are around 50 apps already available.

In a general overview of HbbTV, including a demonstration, Ilgner-Fehns also stressed that its most important plus points are that it is a business neutral technology and allows the combination of broadcast and broadband service elements.
