BT Vision tops customer complaint league

Ofcom has for the first time published data on the number of complaints it has received about pay-TV services.

The data covers the first quarter of 2012 with 0.27 complaints per 1,000 customers. The figures for Virgin Media and Sky were 0.07 and 0.03 respectively.

Ofcom says the relatively high number of complaints included issues related to their sales processes and problems with billing. It added BT Vision improved its performance quarter-on-quarter.

According to Ofcom the research is designed to provide useful information for consumers, while incentivizing operators to improve their performance. It has gathered similar data on telecom operators for the past 18 months.
