Turner closes TNT in Turkey

Time Warner’s Turner Broadcasting System has closed its TNT television operation in Turkey.

Quoting an emailed statement provided by the company, agency reports say that the reason for doing was the channel’s failure to meet performance and growth targets.

However, Turner will continue to run the Cartoon Network and CNN Turk news channel and to look for other opportunities in the country.

Turner also remains committed to its relationship with Dogan Sirketler Grubu Holding, with which it operates CNN Turk.

TNT made its debut in Turkey as a premier movie-based service in 2008 and was re-launched a year as an entertainment channel.
