Swedish commercial channel TV4 is today launching regionalized feeds on its HD channels providing in area news and advertising to all 30 of its local broadcasting areas.
The service is being provided on both DTT and cable on TV4 and sister channel Sjuan (seven).
Although news production is still in standard definition, it will be upconvered for the purpose of the feed. TV4 is the only commercial television operator to offer local HD broadcasts.
“HD TV is a natural extension of today’s television broadcasting and it is important that we are at the forefront of technological developments,” says TV4 Group Distribution Manager David Österlund.
TV4 HD distributed by Boxer, Bredbandsbolaget, Canal Digital, Com Hem, Telia and Sappa. Initially Boxer and Com Hem’s HD viewers benefit from local broadcasts of TV4 HD.
