3m French homes have smart TV

There were nearly 3 million homes in France equipped with smart TV, or 10.7% of all TV homes at the end of Q1, according to Mediametrie.

Research shows take-up of connected TV sets is gaining speed, with an increase of 40% during the first quarter. Growth should continue with nearly 1% of households planning to buy a smart TV the next six months and 4% (nearly one million) within 2 years.

The average number of screens per household now stands at 6.2. Hybrid TV sets are mainly popular with men (83% of heads of households with a television connected are men) and younger people (24% of people under 35 years and 63% are under 50 years – versus 44% for all TV owners).
