Platform n gains subs ahead of merger

The Polish DTH platform n enjoyed strong growth in the first quarter, ending March with 966,000 subscribers, or 16% more than a year earlier.

Its revenues in the quarter amounted to PN28 million (€6.6 million), also an increase of 16% on 12 months earlier.

The platform gained a net 37,000 subscribers in the first quarter, compared to 25,000 in Q1 2011, with the LTM churn rate falling from 19.9% to 14% over the period.

As a result, the post-paid business contributed a revenue increase of PLN23 million, or 14% year-on-year.

TVN’s pre-paid DTH business meanwhile saw its customer base grow by 10% year-on-year to reach 324,000.

Of these, 83,000, or double the number a year earlier, opted for HD services.

As a result, revenues from pre-paid services rose by PLN5 million (+36%) year-on-year.

Significantly, TVN now expects the closure of the transaction leading to the merger of n with Cyfra+ to take place at the end of the third quarter.
