French public broadcaster France Televisions is to expand its catch-up service Pluzz with the introduction of a VOD service.
Around 3,000 titles will be made available beyond the current seven-day cut off period. Since launch Pluzz has achieve around 40 million views per month.
Film, documentary, magazine shows and the arts will all be included. Initially just French films will be carried by the service, though this is likely to be extended to cover titles from the US.
Pluzz VOD will be available on the internet, connected TVs and some third party platforms such as Free’s Freebox with the plan to extend to other operators before the end of the year.
France Televisions is looking to gain ground in the VOD space ceded to commercial broadcasters TF1 and M6 that have held VOD offers for several years.
