Filmbox Love is planning to launch its SVOD service in Turkey this June. The subscription-based service will be offered over connected TVs, smartphones, tablets and games consoles.
“We are returning to our roots,” says Loni Farhi, the Turkish-born founder and President of SPI International. “With Filmbox Live, our new global multiscreen entertainment platform, we are becoming a serious player in the new media segment.”
Ahead of the launch, SPI has made a number of acquisitions from major Turkish distributors and producers. These include a catalogue of more than 100 titles from D Production library will be now part of the Filmbox Live, featuring 40% of foreign films successfully released in Turkish cinemas. The catalogue consists of popular studio movies such as Scream 4, Margin Call, Gamer and The American as well as art-house productions. The latter type also comes with acquisitions made from Mars Production (Separation, Wrestler, Ages of Love).
In addition to newly acquired films, Filmbox Live will also offer the popular Turkish children animation series Caillou and 200 television titles from the SPI catalogue.
