Arte TV, a new cultural channel in HD from Latvia, will launch its first test transmission on March 22.
The channel is available in HD (1080p MPEG4) on a large number of Latvian cable networks.
The cablers involved include Livas, Latnet, Telenet, IZZI and MITS (in Riga), Infonet in Tukums, Nova and Mikronet in Valmiera and Elektrons-K in Liepija.
Programming on the new channel will initially consist of nature and landscape videos and a morning health programme called Health Gymnastics.
Valters Buss, founder of the channel, said he plans to expand programming with content from the various Baltic states.
Arte TV HD is available for free to cablers who distribute the channel in the basic (cheapest) TV package.
