The French all-football channel Cfoot is to cease operations this summer, according to local reports.
The channel, owned by the clubs of the French Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP), said it is not able to compete with the new Al Jazeera sports channel.
A final decision on the possible closure of the channel will be taken on February 10 by the board of the LFP.
Cfoot was launched last July and until now mainly broadcast games of the second French league (L2). The channel is available on DTT, cable, IPTV and satellite DTH.
According to a report in sports newspaper L’Equipe the channel managed to win around 330,000 paying subscribers.
