The first domestic DTH platform in Georgia will make its debut on January 23.
Known as MagtiSat, it will employ several Astra transponders at the 31.5 degrees East orbital position, broadcasting in the DVB-S2 standard and MPEG-4 encoding, to offer viewers a total of 75 TV channels in three packages.
The packages, known as start, basic and HD, will be available throughout the country from the first day of broadcasting.
SES has a long-term agreement with MagtiCom, the operator of the new platform.
Launched in September 1997, the latter is owned by Telcell Wireless LLC and ITC LLC and offers telco services, including voice and data, to over 2 million subscribers in Georgia.
