Russia will soon have what is described as a similar – though more expensive in terms of retail price – device to the Orange Livebox.
According to AKTR and ComNews, it is called the Infokommunikator NIIR-DTV and has been developed by the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Research Institute of radio (NIIR).
Due to go on sale next year at a cost of R6,000 (€137.8), it will allow for the reception of DVB-T services and internet broadcasts over IP networks.
It will essentially be an over-the-top gateway, combining multiple receivers and a return channel, likely to be provided via satellite.
Infokommunikator NIIR-DTV has been designed to order for the Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network (RTRS).
