The Czech tower company Ceske Telekomunikace (CRo) is interested in securing the country’s fourth DTT multiplex, especially if it can be used for DVB-T2 services.
The news was given by Kamil Levinsky, the new director of CRo, in a wide-ranging interview with Digizone.
In it, he also said that the purpose of the DVB-T2 tests the company is currently undertaking is to establish a D-book for uniform standards similar to the one that currently exists in the UK.
In his view, it should be ready by the end of the year and receivers with DVB-T2 tuners on the Czech market in the first half of 2012.
In a previous interview, Levinsky had expressed the view that three quarters of the Czech population may be able to watch the London Olympics next year in HD over DVB-T2.
He still believes this to be possible and that sporting events such as the Olympics are a major opportunity for the introduction of DVB-T2.
