Canal+ enjoyed 45 million video views in September, representing 1.6 million views, as the French premium channel’s websites enjoyed a 197% uplift on 2010.
Canal is attributing the success to programmes including Le Grand Journal, Le Sav, La Champions League, Le Petit Journal and Les Guignols et Bref. Website canalplus.fr itself recorded 7.7 million unique visitors in September, an increase of 91% compared to 4,000,000 in September 2010.
Canalplus.fr had recently been classified by the Journal du Net as the leading French TV channel on the web. The ranking was across a set of sites representing more than 200,000 unique visitors per month (excluding commercial sites) that receive the largest number of interactions on Facebook (likes, comments and shares).
Between September 5 and 16, Canalplus.fr registered 538,000 interactions, including 255,000 “Likes” on Facebook.
With over 9.7 million fans across its channels, Canal+ has the largest community on Facebook of the French TV channels. Seven of its Facebook pages are ranked in the top 15 pages dedicated to TV shows.
