ADB delivers on Canal Digital hybrid platform

ADB has commenced delivery to Canal Digital of its 5720SX hybrid personal video recorder.

The device, which has been pre-loaded with ADB’s Carbo interface, is capable of reception of high definition channels and interactive applications, including video on demand services.

“Canal Digital is a leading operator in the Nordic countries, renowned for high quality services,” says Krzysztof Bilinski, executive vice president, ADB. “It has high standards for the viewer experience that it delivers. I am confident that subscribers will enjoy an enhanced user experience as they access consumer TV, and over the top (OTT) services that are seamlessly integrated on the three-way hybrid ADB-5720SX platform.”

Canal Digital had been announced in November 2010 as a client of TiVo, there has been no subsequent comment from any of the parties involved, though at the ADB product’s announcement in May 2011 Patrick Hofbauer, CEO & SVP Canal Digital AS, said the new addition remained a part of the satcaster’s plans and would be aimed at a higher market segment.

In addition to Carbo, the ADB-5720SX will also run MHP.
