Ukraine’s National Council Radio and TV Broadcasting (NTVCU) has decided to retender a total of 162 regional DTT frequencies.
According to Mediaset, its reason for doing so is that it underestimated the ability of the local market to regulate itself.
The NTVCU has also said it will consider the establishment of future regional multiplexes.
The NTVCU originally received 59 applications for 28 slots on four national multiplexes and 1,040 for 668 on a regional multiplex.
However, its licence awards have proved to be highly controversial.
Ukraine’s national DTT service, operated by Zeonbud, is expected to make its debut this month.
