The Ukrainian telco Datagroup has selected Germany’s Astro-Strobel as an equipment supplier for its TV services.
According to Mediasat, it bought 25 sets of headend equipment at the beginning of this month for broadcasting QAM, PAL/SECAM TV channels via its IP network.
Datagroup launched retail services under the brand name Domashny Telekom (‘Home Telecom’) last autumn, having previously catered for only corporate clients.
It has secured licences to operate TV services in several cities and this year launched its first in Dnipropetrovsk, offering viewers a package of 70 national and international channels for UAH40 (€3.48) a month.
Datagroup attracted investment of $40 million (€28 million) from Horizon Capital last summer and aims to secure a further $100 million over the next two years.
