The first ever Polish/Ukrainian TV channel will make its debut this September.
According to Rzeczpospolita, the service will be known as TVi Europe and have a 67/33 Ukrainian and Polish programme mix.
Its output will include news obtained from the Polish commercial station Polsat News and, in due course, movies and series from the Polish public broadcaster TVP.
TVi Europe will be operating with a licence obtained from the Polish National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT).
Its owners – Mykola Kniazycki and Konstantyn Kagalowski – already have a Ukrainian station named TVi that recently lost its terrestrial licence in controversial circumstances but is still distributed via cable and DTH in the country.
TVi Europe has a high-profile programming council that includes the famous Czech dissident Vaclav Havel in its number.
It will target mostly Ukrainian viewers.
