People access their smart phone when a commercial break interrupts a programme, according to research from IPG Media Lab and YuMe. Ad skipping when watching TV programmes on a PVR do not seem to be the problem.
MEA digital TV conversion continues, but few pay
Despite the recent social and political turmoil, rapid conversion to digital TV continues in the Middle East and Africa, according to a new report from Digital TV Research. Digital TV penetration for the 18 countries covered in the report is already approaching two-thirds of the total.
Arqiva to close SeeSaw

WSJ: Arris in SeaChange purchase talks
Broadband communications supplier Arris Group is said to be in discussions that could lead to a purchase of multiscreen video specialist SeaChange International. The combination of the two companies would expand the video server and back office software business acquired by Arris through the September 2007 purchase of C-Cor for $730 million.

Telenet continues to resist Open Cable
Belgian cable operator Telenet continues to resist the proposed Open Cable regulation, proposed by the national telecoms authority BIPT and the regional media authorities. “Even though the revised proposal has taken into account a number of the concerns expressed by the cable operators, it is still largely inadequate and outdated,” according to the cabler.
Poland considers must-carry move
The Polish National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) is considering giving up to 20 channels distributed by DTT must-carry status on the country’s DTH platforms and cable networks.
