The Russian cable operator ER-Telecom has launched a new on demand service.
Known as Videodom, it gives customers of its high-speed internet access service Dom.ru access to around 3,000 Russian and foreign movies, cartoons and series legally and free of charge.
Content for the service is being sourced from – amongst others – ivi.ru, which has internet rights to content from such leading suppliers as Central Partnership, Soyuzmultfilm and Amedia.
Since its start a few days ago Videodom has already gained over 10,000 users.
ER-Telecom has a presence in 25 cities and claims 8.3% and 8.5% shares of the Russian cable TV and broadband internet markets respectively.
