Hungary’s controversial new media law is still meeting criticism from the EU despite being amended.
BBJ reports that the European Parliament, albeit by a slim majority, has voted in favour of a motion both criticising the legislation and the EC for failing to thoroughly evaluate its contents.
Particular concerns have been voiced by the European Parliament about the industry regulator NMHH and the fact that its members are chosen solely by the Hungarian government.
The new media law was amended by the Hungarian parliament earlier this month in order to address concerns about the legislation expressed by the EC.
