Over 1,000,000 viewing sessions have taken place since last December’s launch of the Yelo online TV platform. Flanders-based cableco Telenet, which runs the service, says since December 17 the Yelo application has been downloaded from the iTunes store 91,956 times.
“Yelo clearly fulfils a previously unmet need of the modern Flemish television viewer,” says Herbert Vanhove, senior vice president product management at Telenet, “but this initial success is even beyond our wildest expectations. Yelo is a major step towards enabling a television culture that lets customers watch their favourite TV programs everywhere.”
After its launch on the iPhone and the iPad, Yelo is now being added to the PC and Mac. Initially available to a select group of users the new service will be gradually extended over the next few weeks, offering the same channels, but with a more extensive VOD offer.
New channels TMF, MTV, Nickelodeon and PRIME Golf are also being added to the platform.
