The Lithuanian incumbent telco TEO LT ended 2010 with over 100,000 subscribers to its fibre optic internet access services, or 65% more than a year earlier.
FTTH internet services provided by the company are available to use by about half of the country’s population, or 570,000 households.
Next generation services are being developed fastest in the largest cities, being offered to 95% of residents in Klaipeda and 86% of those in the capital, Vilnius.
Total investment in the telco’s FTTH network this year alone is expected to exceed LTL70 million (€20.26 million).
TEO had 346,000 internet subscribers at the end of 2010. It has around 88,000 customers using FTTH and 12,000 FTTB technologies.
TEO is the leading provider of both DTT and IPTV services in Lithuania, operating under the Gala brand name. Its FTTH network allows for the viewing of HD channels and gives internet access at up to 200 Mbps.
