Dutch public broadcaster NOS has put all its year-in-reviews since 1956 online and available on-demand. A total of 75 hours of video is now available.
Coverage includes the Hungarian uprising in 1956, the establishment of a communist regime Cuba in 1960, the murder of Martin Luther King in 1968, the Molucan hostage actions in 1975, the Bhopal incident in 1984, the fall of Srebrenica in 1995, 9/11 in 2001, and Obama’s election in 2008.
NOS has put the programmes as much as possible in their original form online, with the original commentary. This included transferring film onto digital video. In some cases, when the original source material was no available, similar material is used.
The programmes were already restored last year, when NOS published the programmes on a DVD set.
The on-demand programmes are available on the NOS website. (All programnes are in Dutch and might not be available in all territories; look for the Dutch term ‘jaaroverzicht’)
