Movie subscription service Lovefilm has extended online streaming to the German market.
The streaming service for PCs, currently in beta, is now live, allowing German subscribers to receive films over their broadband connection. Rights deals have been secured with many of the major studios and include recent and classic titles.
“Following the enormous success of the Lovefilm Player in the UK, which launched in March 2010, an international rollout of our popular subscription streaming service is very much a component of our expansion strategy,” said Lovefilm CEO Simon Calver.
The German rollout follows the UK marker where the Lovefilm Player has over the last nine months launched on PCs, Samsung and Sony internet connected devices and, last month, PS3.
