The German sports channel Sport1 HD, the HD version of the former DSF, will become part of Unitymedia’s and KabelBW HD bouquets. KabelBW will add SyFy HD, TNT Serie HD and TNT Film HD.
Sport 1 HD – and its SD version Sport1 – specialises in football, handball, basketball, motor sports, tennis, golf and boxing. The channel, alongside the regular SD version of Sport1 as well as Sport1 +1 and Sport1+1 HD, are part of the Unitymedia Digital Allstars Digital Allstars HD bouquets respectively. Subscriptions to the Allstars HD and the rental of the Unitymedia HD start at €19 monthly for access to 53 channels.
On Kabel BW, the four new HD chnanels will be part of the Mein TV HD bouquet. This also includes MTVN HD, Classica HD and Deluxe Lounge HD. The price is €9.90 with an additional €2 rental charge for the HD set-top. Penthouse HD is available as an a la carte option with the bouquet for an additional €5.
Although Sport1 does not have live rights to German Bundesliga football, it has those rights for Monday night games of the second Bundesliga division, as well as to other competitions including FA Cup and Carling Cup.
Other live rights include German players in the David Cup, IHF ice hockey, IAAF Diamond League athletics and MotoGP. Sports covered also include cycling, wrestling, poker and darts.
Turner Broadcasting System Deutschland has announced that KabelBW will add TNT Serie HD and TNT Film HD on December 1. Unitymedia, Kabel Deutschland and Switzerland’s Cablecom already carry the HD versions of these two TBS channels.
