The Russian commercial broadcaster CTC Media has posted total operating revenues of $125,265,000 (€89,236,000) for the third quarter – a 17% increase on the same period last year.
While its OIBDA was also higher at $44,677,000 (+6%), the company’s net income fell by the same percentage to $24,299,000.
CTC Media has been a beneficiary of the recovery of the Russian advertising market following a difficult 2009. Its Russian ad sales accounted for 94% of total Q3 operating revenues and were up 11% and year-on-year in rouble terms in the quarter.
National advertising was sold out 100% in Q3 (up from 7% in Q3 2009), with average price up 8% year-on-year in rouble terms, Regional ad prices were meanwhile 30% up in rouble terms in Q3.
CTC Media, which lists MTG as a shareholder, operates the CTC, Domashny and DTV television networks in Russia. It also operates Channel 31, the third most watched station in Kazakhstan.
