The German firm Equinux has announced the introduction of tizi, which it calls “Europe’s first mobile TV Hotspot for iPad and iPhone”. The tizi device delivers DVB-T channels directly to the iPad or iPhone over WiFi.
“With tizi equinux is once again at the forefront of innovation in the Apple arena. tizi represents state-of-the-art technology in both hardware and software,” said Equinux CEO Till Schadde, in a statement, “For us tizi is a strategic expansion of our product range in the iPhone and iPad accessory arena, next to our existing consumer software and enterprise-level solutions.”

The replaceable Li-Ion battery can be recharged via a free USB port on a laptop or using an iPad power adapter. During use, an LED status light displays the current battery level.
The included tizi.tv App requires iOS 4 on the iPhone (3GS and 4), iPod touch (4. Gen., 3. Gen, 32 GB) and iOS 3.2 on the iPad. Tizi supports both portrait and landscape mode and offers full multitasking abilities under iOS 4. tizi is ready for the upcoming iOS 4 on iPad.
Tizi is available from the Equinux Online Store for €149.95. Its owners can get hold of the free iPhone and iPad app via the tizi.tv website. Please note: tizi supports the unencrpyted European free-to-air TV standard (DVB-T/DTT/TNT) and is only available in European countries.
