More than half of cable customers subscribing to the ZON network take a triple play bundle. Announcing its results for the first nine months of 2010, the multiplatform operator said that as of September 30, 2010, 603,500 customers took the combined TV, telephony and broadband offer, representing 51.9% of the Portuguese operator’s installed base.
ZON has 1,594,700 basic cable customers with an additional 413,200 receiving service over satellite. There are 594,400 broadband customers, 529,200 fixed line telephony and 53,900 mobile customers. RGUs per cable subscriber stand at 2.19, up from 1.95 twelve months ago.
The operator said that expenditure on major capex projects peaked during 2010. The migration of its primary network is almost complete and the network is also GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) ready. The upgrade to EuroDOCSIS 3.0 is now complete with 2.8 million homes capable of receiving speeds of up to 200 Mbps. Technical pilots of 400 Mbps are also underway.
Operating Revenues grew by 9.1% in Q3 10 to €221.6 million compared with Q3 09. EBITDA increased by 14.7% to €79.5 million, representing a 35.9% margin as a percentage of revenues.
