The Czech public broadcaster CT is planning to introduce HbbTV in the second half of next year, if not sooner.
Digizone reports that CT’s interest was initially revealed in a press conference in which its technical director Rudolf Pop said that CT was familiarising itself with HbbTV but had yet to make specific plans.
However, last week CT’s general director Jiri Janecek approved a new media strategy for 2011-13 that envisages the introduction of HbbTV, mainly to allow the viewing of programmes from its online archive but also other services.
Commenting on upcoming developments, CT’s new media director Milan Fridrich said: “hybrid TV is the future. Television, as we know it, now ends.”
