PIKE CONFERENCE – SOPOT. Poland’s industry is on the threshold of a huge change, with national TV services giving way in importance to thematic channels, according to Zygmunt Solorz-Zak, the founder and owner of Polsat.
Speaking in a session on the electronic communication market during digital transformation, he also said that the sale of content over the internet will become increasingly important and that media and telecom services will effectively merge.
Significantly, Solorz-Zak in addition said that Polsat, whose interests include the DTH platform Cyfrowy Polsat, will be sufficiently satisfied with operating 10 thematic channels – at least for now.
Piotr Walter, the VP of the board of TVN and DG of TV broadcasting and production, meanwhile said that unlike Polsat his company had no plans to enter the telecom market, instead remaining focused on content.
Its strategy over the last few years has been to diversify its revenues through the internet, the DTH platform n and FTA services.
