On the night of October 18, two more regions in France, the Centre and Poitou-Charentes, will switch to digital. All analogue broadcasts will cease at midnight tonight.
The move follows ASO in Champagne-Ardenne and Lorraine on September 28. The next planned analogue switch off will take place in Burgundy and Franche-Comté November 16.
With tonight’s switch-over, on October 19, a total of 8 regions representing 17.7 million French people, or 29% of the metropolitan population will have switched to digital TV.
The French digital terrestrial networks offers at least 18 free-to-air channels as well as a number of pay-tv channels. It also offer terrestrial HD broadcasts. The service is called TNT, Television Numérique Terrestre, French for digital terrestrial television.
