The Polish incumbent telco TPSA (TP Group) and national commercial broadcaster TVN have signed a framework long-term co-operation agreement.
Under the terms of the landmark deal, which both parties estimate will benefit their EBITDA to the tune of around PLN100 million (€25.6 million) over the next five years, TP Group will provide broadband and other communication services to current and future customers of TVN’s DTH platform n.
At the same time, TP Group will improve its own basic TV offer with content provided by TVN and by n for pay-TV packages.
The pay-TV offerings will be harmonised over time to reflect n content packaging structure.
The two companies have also entered into a long-term TV-related technology co-operation that will see the technologies they employ harmonised over time, thereby providing a uniform customer service offering.
TP Groups’s interests currently include both a DTH and IPTV platform, while TVN operates a portfolio of branded thematic channels, the DTH platform n and pre-pay platform TNK.
The deal between the two parties is understood to be for a period of 10 years.
